PV401:  Off Grid Solar Living – How to design, install and live with an off grid solar power system

This one day course covers the basics of solar for off grid living.  Many people are wanting to live off grid and the best way to power this lifestyle is with solar.  Do it yourself if you are able.

(This will be taught in conjunction with a week-long class of off grid living at the Adrian farm in Arnaudville, LA. covering rainwater harvesting, farming, beekeeping, green houses, solar water pumping and irrigation, saw milling and other related topics)

Solar topics to be covered are:

• How solar works – the basics, electricity, etc.
• What can you expect to run and for how long without the grid
• Practical design of a properly sized system with ability to expand
• Site analysis and equipment selection
• How to safely install your own system with shortcuts and tips
