Over 50 Environmental leaders from all over Louisiana came out to the Capital on Tuesday, May 26th to learn about important environmental legislation that is being considered by the Louisiana House and Senate. Secretary of DOTD, William Ankner, the Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX) the Delta Chapter of the Sierra Club presented to a packed house at the Capital Park Welcome Center. Despite a bit of rain, the group ended their meeting with a Second Line parade to the Capital steps to begin the lobbying part of their day.
The entire event was organized by Gulf South Solar’s Marketing Director, Ann Shaneyfelt, who also serves on the Executive Committee of the Baton Rouge Group of the Sierra Club. Many bills were discussed and debated that day, including the solar tax credit bills. Attendees learned about the legislative process and left equiped with tons of information to better educate our state legislators on these important topics.
