The Baton Rouge Green Crawl is an event designed to introduce Baton Rouge residents to our city’s green resources, green developments, and green businesses.
Date: Thursday, October 15th
Time: 5:00pm – 10:oopm
Location: Area Businesses in Baton Rouge (Map my ride)
Website: www.greencrawlbr.com
Passport: Click here to download
The event will unfold in a unique way… beginning at any stop along a map throughout downtown Baton Rouge, Mid-City, Corporate Boulevard, College, and Perkins Road Overpass, where it eventually comes to a stop at historic Chelsea’s Café.
Each “brick and mortar” business will be partnered with a green non-profit or servitor-type business, so that two green resources will be highlighted at each stop along the way to educate attendees. For example, Gulf South Solar will be a stop on the map and will be partnered with Recycling Foundation of Baton Rouge. Attendees will learn about solar products, tax benefits of solar implementation, and recycling. They will have the option to sign up for residential and commercial recycling.
The entire map will be highlighted on all materials for the Green Crawl, including a bike route created by BRASS (Baton Rouge Advocates for Safe Streets), so that attendees have the option to ride their bicycles as an even more “green” option to travel the event. Another green transportation option? The crawl will host a hybrid fleet driven by volunteers to shuttle attendees to and from stops along the way to save fuel.
All attendees will be given a “passport” to travel the crawl, which will be stamped at each location they visit. Upon completion of the crawl, if the attendee has visited each and every stop along the way, the passport may be entered into a drawing for cash prizes at the end of the crawl at Chelsea’s.
The crawl will end at Chelsea’s at 8pm, where all attendees will turn in their passports, regardless of how many stamps they have received, and they will receive an armband. The armband entitles them to free beer. At this time, the final party starts, and the drawings are held.
